Mindy Frenkel is a celebrated yoga teacher known for her inspirational style of teaching that incorporates a challenging vinyasa flow (linking movement with breath), with an emphasis on proper alignment. Mindy’s passion for yogic philosophy is the hallmark of her teaching style. Students come for the yogic reflections, chanting mantra and meditation as much as for the physical aspects of her practice.
For nearly 20 years Mindy was a fitness instructor and personal trainer. She motivated many not only to change their bodies, but to change their lives. As her own life became more challenging, her interest in the mystical and the Divine deepened. She began the study of yoga in 1995 in Long Island and started teaching even before getting certified. Her many teachers and Mentors include Alan Finger, Erich Schiffman, Seane Corn, Max Strom, and Saul-David-Ray, Sharon Ganon and David Life. Mindy graduated from the Yoga Zone Teacher Training with Alan Finger in 2002 and completed her 500 hours in 2005 and then the 800 Jivamukti Yoga teacher training in 2013.
Most recently, Mindy’s life has been profoundly influenced by her encounter with her Guru and spiritual guide, Manorama (also known as GuruMa), with whom she has been studying “The Path of the Luminous Shabda.” This includes the language of Sanskrit, Mantra, meditation and yoga philosophy. As a result, her classes and teaching have become more alive and devotional.
Mindy resides in New York.
